Marie Walker, founder and president of BackRoads Booking Agency, grew up in a musical family and is a daughter of a Detroit Dixieland Jazz drummer.  She has many fond memories of having some of Detroit's finest musicians drop by the house.



While she was a Los Angeles resident for 21 years, her interest in Blues music came full swing.  After moving back “home” to Detroit in 2001, she met then Detroit Blues Society president, Wolfgang Spider, at a DBS event and he encouraged her to become a member.  Being the Detroit Blues Society secretary for 2005 – 2007 was a truly rewarding experience.

Currently Marie is a member of The Colorado Blues Society, Pikes Peak Blues Society and The South Florida Blues Society.   She is also a Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise junkie.  Mem Shannon of New Orleans started her in the booking agency business.  Marie’s organizational skills and her honesty are strengths that provide clients with the best possible representation.
